Last Thursday, Jamison, Laksh, Jaxon and Nathaniel headed to the Cardinia Cultural Centre to represent OPS at the Koorie Kids Celebration Day for schools in the Cardinia Network.
The boys described their experience below:
They had the Indigenous Outreach Dance Group perform for the 200 students and staff attending from around fifteen schools. Sam Richards had art activities with an installation of a series of paintings with Indigenous symbols. This display was created to be displayed potentially in the Shire buildings. Aligned Leisure had sport activities for everyone to participate in. The Yarning Circle allowed students to talk about their cultures within their school settings. There was a scavenger hunt around the Lakeside to find plants and native features in the environment. A huge sausage sizzle lunch was provided to all.
It was a great day and always interesting to meet with other students in our local area.
